This vintage splashed lustre jug was made in the 1940s in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. Crafted by Lancaster & Sandland and decorated for Gray’s Pottery under the Old Castle name, it features a detailed transfer print of a horse and carriage scene, accented with hand-painted color. The purple and pink mottled lustre glaze frames the image with a soft, iridescent finish that reflects the style of the era.
The jug stands approximately 3.5 inches tall and measures 4.25 inches wide. It bears two marks: the bottom stamp from Lancaster & Sandland Ltd. with the clasped hands logo, and the Old Castle mark from Gray’s Pottery. The condition is good, with overall crazing and minor wear to the decoration.
